Case Study: Chocolately Maple Granola Whenever Bark
Imperfect Foods is an e-commerce company so the customer first experiences a product when shopping online. Unlike physical grocery stores, customers aren’t able to pick up a bag or turn it over in their hands, rather they first see a product as a small thumbnail photo when scrolling through a gallery of images. Knowing this, I designed labels that are scannable and will show what the product is in the clearest and quickest way.
Designing
This granola bark walks the line of hearty and healthy-ish enough to be breakfast but also sweet enough to be a dessert. They are made with rescued maple sugar residue from maple syrup production. I partnered with our Copywriter to come up with the product name and the camping theme. I also worked with our Photographers to photograph the actual product to include on the package. Below is a mood board and a draft of the label, followed by the final design.
Product and Editorial Photography
When the product is ready to be sold, I collaborated with the photographers to shoot our product photography for the catalogue. For some products, we also photographed a styled editorial photo to be used in paid ads, emails or as a promotional image on our site.
